How To Start Dropshipping - A Quick Beginner's Guide to High-Ticket Drop Shipping
Trevor here with eCommerce Paradise.
In this episode, I'm going to discuss how to start dropshipping.
Before you get into drop shipping, you need to understand what it is.
First, dropshipping is simply a fulfillment method. You have suppliers that ship out the products directly to the customer. As an online businessman, eCommerce business, you have to consider yourself a retailer first and foremost. Dropshipping is just a service that you provide your customers. You provide access to all sorts of different brands on your website, great deals and discounts on those brands' products, as well as value-added services, upgrades, options, and content.
Generally speaking, dropshipping is a low-cost startup model as opposed to other startup models in the business world. However, there is a lot involved, and there is some investment needed.
The first thing you need to do is train yourself in business; to take business and marketing classes. I recommend going to websites like Udemy and Coursera. You can go to YouTube and search for business 101 videos. You can also sign up for audiobooks via audible.com. Read, listen, watch anything you can find about business because all those stuff will apply to building your business.
Now, when it comes to starting an Internet business, especially dropshipping, it's a pretty simple and straightforward process. First of all, you have to figure out what niche you're going to go into. To do niche research is simply a process of finding products that match the price point you want to sell. I teach high-ticket dropship in my eCommerce Paradise Academy. That means selling products over two hundred dollars, usually in the thousand dollar price range or more. I also have experience selling digital products. You can do both. However, with the physical products, the coolest thing is that you have a physical thing to ship to a customer.
Usually, those products solve a big problem or fulfill a desire that the customer has. They're much more likely to sell easily. With that said, setting up a website once you decide your niche is a straightforward process. I recommend using Shopify. I've used WordPress in the past, but it's been kind of a headache and a hassle.
Shopify is much easier to set up. Although it does cost a monthly fee, it's less expensive in the long run, especially as far as time goes to set up and build your business using their website features.
Once you've actually decided on your niche, the next thing to do is to model a competitor. I always suggest people: find a competitor in the online space that you want to model after because if you try to enter a space that doesn't have competitors already, most likely, it'll be difficult to start up. It'll be harder to find suppliers, more challenging to find content. It's always a good idea to find a competitor to model that's also just doing dropship. You don't want to find somebody with a retail storefront or anything like that because those brands might not drop-ship for you. Find a competitor that is just doing dropshipping. Set up a website and model after them.
Set up your website with Shopify, which by the way, I teach in eCommerce Paradise Academy, so if you're interested in taking this step by step course (website set up, how to find suppliers, and everything else that is necessary), definitely go there and check that out. Once your website is up, optimize it for conversions. That means setting up a sales funnel with marketing, setting up opt-ins, setting up all sorts of conversion optimization techniques throughout your website. After that, you drive traffic to your website so that you get some sales. Note that with high-ticket drop shipping, you'll be able to make more money per sale than you would with low ticket dropship. One or two sales will pay for your ads, whereas it would take 10 to 20 sales to pay for ads with low ticket stuff. The other cool thing about high ticket dropship is that the products tend to last longer than the low dollar stuff, so instead of selling a viral product for a month or two and then having to find another one, you can sell the same product month after month after month. So once you've done that, then you definitely want to focus on building your organic traffic at your website, getting backlinks, and automating your business procedures and processes so you can start outsourcing.
In my course, I will be teaching many techniques for business and automation. Optimization and automation can give you a fast business. It could get crazy, but if you just focus on building systems and making things easy for you, it can be a stress-free thing to do.
Learn to manage a business and build websites. That will make making money passively, and you can live a very cool lifestyle. That is why I call my website eCommerce Paradise, because I wanted to live my paradise lifestyle. That meant setting up an online business so that people could passively go and purchase the products, get what they wanted, be happy with it. I would also be happy with doing business with them, so it's a win-win situation.
That's it. That's how to start dropshipping.
