AceableAgent Pricing 2026: All 17 States, Every Package and the Real Cost of Licensure

Most pricing articles about online real estate schools are useless for one reason: they print a single number. At E-Commerce Paradise I price things for a living, and in this category a price with no state attached is not a price at all. AceableAgent charges $149 in Virginia and $949 in Ohio for the same brand’s pre-licensing product. If you read a headline that says “AceableAgent costs $149” you have been told something that is true in exactly one of the seventeen states it operates in.

So this page is a table first and an argument second. Every state, every package tier, the required hours behind the price, and the cost per required hour, which is the only way to compare Ohio’s $949 against Virginia’s $149 honestly. Then the part almost everyone skips, which is the several hundred dollars of exam, application, fingerprinting and background check fees that arrive after the course and vary by state just as much as the course does.

One boundary before I start. Aceable the drivers ed brand and AceableAgent the real estate brand share a parent and share nothing else. There are no drivers ed prices on this page. If that is what you want, my Aceable drivers ed pricing breakdown is the right page.

AceableAgent price by state, with cost per required hour

Prices below are the Basic package, which is the entry tier and the number the company advertises as its starting price. Required hours come from AceableAgent’s own state course pages. Cost per required hour is my division, rounded to the cent. The table is sorted cheapest per hour to most expensive, because that ordering tells a very different story from sorting by sticker price.

Read that sort order carefully, because it inverts the usual conclusion. California at $199 looks mid range on sticker and is the cheapest state in the country per required hour, because California asks for 135 hours. Michigan at $169 looks like the second cheapest sticker and is actually mid table per hour, because Michigan only asks for 40 hours. Michigan buyers are paying $4.23 an hour while California buyers pay $1.47. Sticker price hides that completely.

Three states where AceableAgent’s own pages disagree

I have to flag this because it affects three of the seventeen rows and I am not willing to print a clean number I cannot defend.

Illinois. The course listing index says Illinois starts at $199. The company homepage says Illinois starts at $399. The Illinois course page itself publishes no package price at all, only licence path information. Two of the company’s own pages give two different answers and the third stays silent.

Colorado. The course listing index and the homepage both say $799. The Colorado course page shows a Basic package at $349 carrying a zero percent discount badge, which normally means it is not a sale price. That is a gap of $450 on the same product.

Utah. Neither the index nor the homepage lists a starting price for Utah at all, but the Utah course page shows Basic at $399 alongside Deluxe and Premium tiers. Utah is real, it is just missing from the summary lists, which is why the state count is seventeen rather than the sixteen you get from counting the index.

For all three, take the checkout price as authoritative and treat everything else, including my table, as a figure to verify. I am not going to average two numbers and present the result as a fact.

What actually drives the differences

Three forces set the price of a pre-licensing course, and only one of them is the school.

The first is required seat hours. This is the obvious one. Texas requires 180 classroom hours per the Texas Real Estate Commission, spread across six 30 hour courses covering Principles of Real Estate I and II, Law of Agency, Law of Contracts, Promulgated Contract Forms and Real Estate Finance. Michigan requires 40. Producing 180 hours of approved content costs more than producing 40, and the price reflects it.

The second is who your state allows to deliver those hours, and this is the force that produces the extreme numbers. Ohio requires 100 hours, made up of 40 hours of Real Estate Principles and Practices, 40 hours of Ohio Real Estate Law, 10 hours of Real Estate Appraisal and 10 hours of Real Estate Finance. Ohio Revised Code section 4735.09 also requires that education be completed at an institution of higher education, a phrase section 4735.01(D) extends to state institutions, authorised nonprofits, exempt private institutions, and career colleges registered with the state board of career colleges and schools that are approved to offer degree or certificate programs. No degree is required of anyone, but delivery is restricted to registered institutions, which removes most open market online providers from Ohio and lets the survivors price accordingly. AceableAgent’s Ohio page shows the effect directly, badging the course “Approved by OH SBCCS” alongside the line “SBCCS-Approved Registration #2359”. Ohio is $9.49 per required hour against Virginia’s $2.48, which is 3.8 times the per hour rate for a state that requires only 1.67 times the hours.

The third is market competition. Texas has 180 hours, the most on the list, and still lands at $2.49 per required hour, statistically the same as Virginia’s 60 hour course. Texas has an enormous licensed provider population competing on price. California, with 135 required hours delivered as three college level courses of at least 45 hours each per the California Department of Real Estate, is the cheapest per hour anywhere at $1.47 for the same reason.

If you want the corroboration rather than my word for it, look at what the competition charges in Ohio. The CE Shop prices Ohio salesperson pre-licensing from $1,099 to $1,799 for the same 100 hours. Colibri does not sell an Ohio course of its own and instead points Ohio students to Hondros College, with no package price published on that page. Three independent schools, one state, the same answer.

Every package tier in every state

AceableAgent runs the same three tier ladder everywhere: Basic, Deluxe, Premium. Deluxe adds an AI powered course assistant and advanced exam prep. Premium adds one on one tutoring, live webinars and a career coaching course. Where a discount was showing at the time I checked, I have given both the list price and the price shown, and labelled which is which.

The useful way to read this table is by delta rather than by row. In Virginia the Basic to Deluxe step is $90 on list. In Ohio the same step is $400 on list. You are buying the same feature set, an AI course assistant and advanced exam prep, and the upgrade costs four and a half times as much in one state as the other. Upgrades in this category scale with the base price rather than with the value of what is added, which is a very good reason to decide whether you actually need exam prep before you look at the price of it.

What the course price includes, and what it does not

The Basic price buys the state approved pre-licensing hours and the delivery platform around them. On the state course pages that means fully narrated lessons with audio voiceover, videos, interactive activities, a mastery tracking system with study recommendations, an iOS and Android app that syncs progress across devices, and instructor support by email or text. The Virginia page states that course access stays open for six months.

It also includes a satisfaction guarantee. Every Virginia tier lists a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee described as a 30 day course trial with your money back. Deluxe and Premium additionally carry the line “Pass the test or your money back!” Basic does not carry that pass line in the package grid. Read the terms before you treat either as a refund policy.

Here is what the course price does not include, in every state without exception. It does not include your state exam fee. It does not include your licence application fee. It does not include fingerprinting or the background check. It does not include post licensing education, which several states require inside the first renewal cycle. And it does not include continuing education, which you will start paying for the moment you are licensed.

The rest of the bill: exam, application, fingerprints, background check

This is the section that competing articles leave out, and leaving it out changes the answer to the question people are actually asking, which is what does getting licensed cost.

Every figure below came off a state regulator’s own page this session. Where a regulator did not publish a number in a form I could retrieve, I have written Not published rather than estimating, because a guessed fee is worse than no fee.

Those Not published entries are a real finding rather than laziness. Several state commissions publish their fee schedules as PDFs, inside candidate handbooks, or behind portals that do not serve a plain page. That is precisely why you should call or check your own commission rather than trusting any blog, this one included, for a fee figure.

Worked totals: what licensure actually costs in three states

Now put the two halves together. This is the calculation that should drive your decision, and almost nobody runs it.

Texas. The AceableAgent Basic course is $449 for 180 required hours, which is $2.49 per required hour. On the state side, TREC’s fee schedule effective 15 December 2025 breaks the sales agent original application into a $150.00 base fee, a $6.00 Texas Online Fee, a $40.00 Texas A&M Research Center fee and a $10.00 Real Estate Recovery Fee, for a stated total of $206.00 to the commission. Add $43.00 for the exam paid to the exam provider and $37.00 for fingerprints paid to IDEMIA and the state side comes to $286.00. Total from zero to sitting the exam with an application filed: $735. The course is 61.1 percent of that total.

California. The AceableAgent Basic course is $199 for 135 required hours, which is $1.47 per required hour. On the state side, the DRE fees page gives $100 for the original examination and $350 for the licence fee, totalling $450 when filed together on form RE 435, plus $49 for fingerprints. State side $499. Total $698. The course is only 28.5 percent of the total, which means the cheapest course in the country sits inside one of the most expensive licensure paths in the country. If you were choosing between states on cost, California’s course price would mislead you badly.

Ohio. The AceableAgent Basic course is $949 for 100 required hours, which is $9.49 per required hour. On the state side I could confirm only the $81.00 application fee, so the verified subtotal is $1,030 with the exam fee and fingerprinting still to add. Ohio is the most expensive state on this list before the state fees are even complete.

The pattern worth internalising is that the course is somewhere between a quarter and two thirds of the real bill depending on where you live. Anyone comparing schools on course price alone is optimising a minority of the spend.

How AceableAgent’s prices compare to the two national alternatives

Two providers I priced this session cover states AceableAgent does not, and both compete directly in states it does. In Texas, the entry package at Colibri lists at $498.34 for the same 180 hours, against $449 for AceableAgent Basic. In Virginia, the entry package at The CE Shop is $239 for the same 60 hours, against $149 for AceableAgent Basic.

Those are entry tier against entry tier, which is the only fair way to line them up, and the contents differ. I have run both comparisons properly, including guarantees and refund terms, in my AceableAgent versus Colibri breakdown.

If you are in one of the thirty three states AceableAgent does not serve, price the national providers directly. Kaplan Real Estate Education is a third national name. Its Texas Licensing with Exam Prep package covering 180 credit hours lists at $499, which is $2.77 per required hour against AceableAgent’s $2.49, and its Ohio Complete Licensing Package with Exam Prep covering 100 credit hours lists at $799 against AceableAgent’s $949.

Does the price buy a better result? Texas is the only place you can check

Cost per required hour tells you what you are paying. It does not tell you what you are getting. In exactly one state you can check the second question against a regulator rather than a brochure.

Texas law requires the Texas Real Estate Commission to publish first time sales agent exam pass rates by education provider. For exams taken between 12/1/2023 and 11/30/2025, the Texas field recorded 29,980 exams taken and 16,824 passed, a first time rate of 56.12 percent, against TREC’s published minimum performance benchmark of 44.94 percent.

In Texas the cheapest entry tier on that table is also the one with the best regulator measured outcome, which is not the trade off buyers usually brace for. AceableAgent’s 8,516 exams are the second largest provider sample in TREC’s file, behind Champions School of Real Estate, so this is not a small sample artefact either.

Hold two caveats firmly. This is Texas only, there is no comparable dataset for the other sixteen states, and it cannot be read across to Ohio or Colorado or anywhere else. And it does not mean AceableAgent publishes pass rates, because it does not. The number above belongs to TREC, not to the company, and a good result in one state is not a promise about your exam.

Budgeting this like a business expense

Licensing costs are a startup cost, and the people who handle them best are the ones who already treat their working life as a business rather than a job. That is the overlap with most of what I write.

It depends entirely on your state. The Basic package starts at $149 in Virginia and runs to $949 in Ohio, with fifteen other states in between. There is no single AceableAgent price and any article that gives you one has told you about one state and not yours.

Why is the cost per required hour a better comparison than the sticker price?

Because the hours are not the same. Michigan requires 40 hours and Texas requires 180. Michigan’s $169 looks cheaper than Texas’s $449 until you divide, at which point Michigan is $4.23 per required hour and Texas is $2.49. You are buying hours of state approved instruction, so hours are the denominator that makes the numbers comparable.

What is the cheapest AceableAgent state?

On sticker, Virginia at $149. On cost per required hour, California at $1.47, because California requires 135 hours for that $199. Bear in mind California’s own state fees are among the highest, so the cheapest course does not equal the cheapest licence.

What extra fees should I budget beyond the course?

Exam fee, licence application fee, fingerprinting and a background check, all of which vary by state. In Texas the verified figures come to $286.00 on top of the course. In California they come to $499. In Ohio I could confirm only an $81.00 application fee, with the exam and fingerprinting fees Not published on the pages I could retrieve. Confirm your own state’s current fees with your state real estate commission.

Is the Premium package worth the upgrade?

Only if you will use it. Premium adds one on one tutoring, live webinars and a career coaching course. In Virginia that is $200 above Basic on list. In Ohio it is $850 above Basic on list. Same features, wildly different price, so the answer changes by state even when your needs do not.

Do these prices include continuing education?

No. Pre-licensing and continuing education are separate purchases everywhere. AceableAgent lists continuing education for a much smaller set of states than it sells pre-licensing in, which I cover in my comparison with The CE Shop. Budget for renewal education as a recurring cost from the day you are licensed.

Bottom Line

AceableAgent’s pricing is not expensive or cheap. It is state dependent to a degree that makes the brand level question meaningless. California, Tennessee, Washington, Virginia, Texas and Florida buyers are getting between $1.47 and $2.84 per required hour, which is competitive by any measure I can construct. North Carolina at $6.39, Arizona at $5.20 and Ohio at $9.49 are a different product economically, and in those three states you should price the alternatives before committing. The Arizona figure needs one line of explanation: ADRE requires 90 hours of pre-licensing education plus a separate 6 hour Contract Writing Class, and AceableAgent bundles all 96 hours into the single $499 package, so $5.20 is the rate for what the buyer actually receives.

Then add the state fees, because they are between a third and seven tenths of the real bill depending on where you live, and they are the part nobody quotes you. And whatever the arithmetic says, verify your current hour requirement, fee schedule and approved provider list with your own state real estate commission before you buy. Completing a course satisfies one requirement. It does not guarantee you a passing score, a licence or a job, and no school can promise otherwise.
