TikTok Shop Just Opened Europe to Every Seller

On June 15, TikTok Shop turns on four new countries: Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Poland. That brings it to 10 European markets, sitting alongside France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, and the UK. The bigger news is the tool launching right behind it, called “Sell Across Europe,” which lets one seller operate in every TikTok Shop market in the EU from a single registration, with localized listings and shipping handled through TikTok-partnered carriers.

I run my own stores and a marketing agency for high-ticket store owners over at Ecommerce Paradise, and I read this the way I read every platform expansion: a new pipe just opened, and the people who set up early get the cheap traffic before everyone floods in. TikTok Shop already has more than 100,000 sellers across its first five EU markets, and daily sales volume there grew triple digits between August 2025 and February 2026. The runway here is real.

This one matters to American operators too, even if you never sell a single unit in Poland. The mechanics of how TikTok is lowering the cost of cross-border selling tell you exactly where retail is heading, and they change the math on whether expanding past your home country is worth the headache. I’ll cover what shipped, how we got here, what it does to your store, and the moves to make this week.

Selling into a new country means your name and address ride along on every filing and tax registration you open. Northwest uses their own address on your public record and forwards your mail, which is the part that actually matters when you run the business from Lisbon instead of the state your LLC sits in. What Happened

According to ChannelX, TikTok Shop opens to shoppers and sellers in Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, and Poland on June 15, and registration for those territories is already live. So you can sign up before the doors open to the public.

Sellers in the new markets get the full kit on day one: in-feed video and LIVE shopping, where products are tagged directly inside videos in the For You feed; a product showcase on the brand profile; and secure checkout through third-party payment partners. The Shop Tab, which is the searchable product marketplace inside the app, starts rolling out to users in the new EU markets from July.

The piece that changes the game for sellers is Sell Across Europe. Per EMARKETER, a merchant can operate in multiple countries through one registration, localize product descriptions, and ship through TikTok Shop-partnered logistics providers or approved carriers. Brands can also tap TikTok’s creator affiliate network, so approved creators across the EU can promote products and earn commission. One onboarding, and a viral video in Germany can drive orders you fulfill into Italy and Spain without standing up a separate store for each.

The numbers behind the expansion are why I’m paying attention. TikTok Shop became Spain’s 16th-largest online retailer by sales volume within 18 months, and hit 15th in Germany even faster. In the UK, more than 200,000 small and midsize businesses have set up shop. In the US, TikTok Shop is on track to pass Target in ecommerce revenue this year. This is not a side experiment anymore.

It also favors the little guy in a way most channels don’t. A GlobalData survey found 72% of TikTok Shop users discovered a small business on the platform in the past 12 months, compared with 40% for midsize brands and 33% for large brands. A Morning Consult survey in April found that in the UK, more people have used TikTok Shop (50%) than have uploaded a video (32%). The algorithm pushes your product far past your follower count, which is the whole reason a brand-new seller can get traction without an audience.

TikTok’s own newsroom frames it as content-driven shopping coming to four new countries with local logistics and courier partners lined up. Translation: they are removing the two things that normally kill cross-border expansion, which are localization and shipping.

How We Got Here

TikTok Shop started in the UK, stumbled through some early growing pains, then expanded into France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and Spain. Once those five markets proved the model, a pan-European rollout was always the next move. It mirrors how Amazon built its EU marketplace: get a few anchor countries working, then knit them together so one seller account reaches all of them.

Two outside forces pushed this along. First, the end of cheap duty-free parcels from China. The de minimis exemption that let sub-$800 packages skip duties is gone in the US, and the EU is moving the same direction with its new parcel duty hitting July 1. That guts the price advantage Temu and Shein had, and it pushes TikTok toward local sellers shipping locally instead of cheap goods flown in from overseas. Sell Across Europe is built for exactly that: intra-EU sellers shipping intra-EU.

Second, TikTok has spent the last two months tightening seller rules. They added the ability to freeze seller accounts, rolled out an inactive-and-dormant policy in the UK, and changed return handling. A platform that is cleaning up its seller base and expanding its footprint at the same time is a platform getting serious about being a real marketplace, not a flea market. That is good for you if you sell quality products, and a problem if you were skating by on junk.

None of this makes the EU a free lunch. RetailDetail points out the rollout still drops sellers into a patchwork of national rules, and Sell Across Europe handles your listings and your parcels, not your taxes. You still register for VAT in each country you sell into, file in each one, and stay on the right side of the EU’s import rules. TikTok carrying the box to Amsterdam does not file your Dutch VAT return. Budget for an accountant who actually knows cross-border, because the penalty for getting this wrong is a frozen account, not a polite warning.

Why This Matters for Your Store

Let me be direct about who this is and isn’t for. TikTok Shop is a low-average-order-value, content-driven channel. The products that pop are impulse buys under $30, beauty, gadgets, apparel, snacks. If you sell $1,500 standing desks or $4,000 saunas like a lot of my clients, you are not going to move units through a LIVE in Belgium next week. So for high-ticket operators, the direct play is narrow.

But the lesson underneath it is huge, and it applies to every store. TikTok just proved that single-registration, localized, cross-border selling can be turned on like a light switch. That is the direction the whole industry is moving. Google did a version of this with universal cart, and Shopify Markets has been chipping at the same wall for two years. When the friction of selling into a second or third country drops to near zero, expanding stops being a giant project and starts being a checkbox.

Here’s the math that changes. Standing up a real store in a new country used to mean a separate entity, a local VAT registration, translated listings, a local fulfillment partner, and a payment processor that supports that currency. Call it 40 to 80 hours of setup and a few thousand dollars before you sell anything. Tools that collapse that work change the calculation. Easyship handles the cross-border shipping and duties side so a label to Amsterdam is as easy as one to Austin. Wise gives you local currency accounts so you are not bleeding 3-4% on every euro conversion. Those two alone knock the biggest holes out of the wall.

If you do run a content-friendly product, the move is obvious: get registered in the new markets now, before the seller count triples and organic reach gets diluted. Early sellers on any TikTok market have ridden a wave of cheap attention that flattens out once everyone shows up. I have watched this exact pattern play out on every new ad surface. The window is the first 90 days.

Run a real example. Say you sell a $24 skincare set and you’re already moving 300 units a month in Germany. Sell Across Europe lets you flip on Italy, Spain, and the Netherlands without building new stores. If even one of those markets returns half your German volume, that’s another 150 orders at $24, roughly $3,600 in new monthly revenue against maybe a weekend of localization work and a few extra euros per parcel. That kind of return used to take a quarter of setup to unlock. The catch is every other seller in those markets is about to make the same move, so the cheap-reach window closes fast and the people who registered first eat best.

And if you sell high ticket, the takeaway is not “ignore this.” It’s “your competitors just got a cheaper path to your second market.” Pair a content channel like TikTok for top-of-funnel discovery with your real store for the high-ticket close, and you have a funnel most of your competitors aren’t running. Get your Shopify store set up for multi-currency and your email flows ready to capture the traffic, because discovery is worthless if you can’t recapture the buyer who wasn’t ready on the first click.

If reading all of that made your stomach drop because you do not have the time to set up cross-border shipping, multi-currency, and a content engine on top of running your store, that is exactly the situation my team handles. We build and run high-ticket stores done-for-you, including the boring infrastructure most people skip. You can see how that turnkey done-for-you build works if you would rather hand it off than learn all of it yourself.

What To Do This Week

Whether you sell in Europe today or you’re just paying attention, here are the concrete moves while this is fresh.

  1. If you have a content-friendly product, register your TikTok Shop seller account for the new markets now. Registration is open ahead of the June 15 public launch, and getting in before the crowd is the entire advantage.
  2. Audit your shipping setup for cross-border. Price out what a label to a second country actually costs you today, then compare it to a partnered carrier through a tool like Easyship. If the gap is ugly, that is your real barrier to expanding, not demand.
  3. Open multi-currency accounts before you need them. A Wise account lets you hold and convert euros, pounds, and dollars without getting skimmed on every order. Set it up while it’s calm.
  4. Localize one product listing as a test. Run the description through proper localization, not just machine translation, and watch conversion. If you don’t have the hours, a VA from OnlineJobs.ph can handle listing localization cheaply.
  5. Check which of your products are even legal to sell in the EU, and confirm your VAT obligations per country. TikTok handling logistics does not handle your tax registration. That part is still on you.
  6. If cross-border feels like a maze and you’d rather map it with someone who’s done it, book a discovery call and we’ll figure out whether expansion is worth it for your specific store.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is TikTok Shop worth it for high-ticket dropshipping?
Directly, not really, since it rewards cheap impulse buys, not $2,000 orders. Indirectly, yes, as a discovery channel that feeds buyers into your real store. I break down the full approach in my guide to scaling a high-ticket store.

Do I need a European company to use Sell Across Europe?
You need VAT registration in the markets you sell into, and depending on volume you may want an EU entity, but you do not need a separate company per country. Talk to a cross-border tax pro before you assume your US LLC setup covers it.

Does this affect my US store at all?
Only as a signal. It shows cross-border selling is getting frictionless fast, which means your competitors can reach your second market cheaper than before. Worth watching, not panicking over.

What products actually sell on TikTok Shop?
Sub-$30 impulse buys: beauty, gadgets, apparel, snacks, anything that demos well on video. If your product needs a phone call to close, this is the wrong channel for the sale itself.

How fast is this market growing?
Triple-digit daily sales growth across the first five EU markets between August 2025 and February 2026, and TikTok Shop is on track to pass Target in US ecommerce revenue this year. The growth is not hype.

I’m brand new. Should I start with TikTok Shop or high-ticket?
Depends on your capital and patience. High-ticket needs more setup but pays per order. If you want one-on-one help picking the right model for your situation, my coaching walks you through it.
