People get burned here, so let me be exact. You can build almost anything on the free plan. What you cannot do is get a usable file out of it.

The Billing Problem
I am putting this in its own section because it is the most consistent negative signal across every review platform, and it is the thing most likely to cost you money unexpectedly.
All plans auto-renew by default. Renderforest’s published refund policy states it has no obligation to provide a refund if you changed your mind, bought by mistake, lack the expertise to use the product, or no longer need it. That is unusually blunt language.
The complaint pattern on Renderforest’s Trustpilot profile is consistent: continued billing for unused service with no refund, difficulty finding the cancellation option, and in one case an unexpected charge two years after last use. Credits are also forfeited the moment a subscription ends, which Renderforest has confirmed publicly in its own replies.
To be fair, they do respond to these publicly, and at least one user confirmed receiving a full refund after posting. But the pattern is real and it is why Trustpilot sits at 3.8 while G2 and Capterra sit near 4.7.
My practical advice: pay monthly for the first cycle, set a calendar reminder before renewal, and export everything you make rather than treating Renderforest as storage.
The YouTube Music Problem
This one catches content creators specifically and almost nobody mentions it.
If you use music from Renderforest’s licensed library in a video you upload to YouTube, you will get a Content ID claim. Renderforest documents this openly and provides a remedy involving filing with AdRev or disputing in YouTube Studio with your purchase invoice attached. It is resolvable, but it is an administrative tax on every video rather than a one-time fix. If you publish to YouTube at volume, use your own licensed music instead.

No Ecommerce Integration, and That Matters
There is no Renderforest app in the Shopify App Store. No WooCommerce integration, no BigCommerce integration, no product feed import, no catalog sync, no bulk video generation from a CSV.
Everything is manual, one asset at a time, create then download then upload. For a store with ten hero products that is fine. For a store with four hundred SKUs, the manual workflow is the binding constraint, not the subscription price.
Judge it as a standalone creative studio you run alongside your store, not as something that plugs into it.

Where Video Actually Moves the Needle for a High-Ticket Store
Worth being concrete about this, because most store owners make the wrong videos.
