Shopify Store Checklist Before Launch: Everything You Need to Verify in 2026

Launching a Shopify store without running through a pre-launch checklist is one of the most common mistakes new dropshippers make. Missing a policy page can get your Google Ads account suspended. A broken checkout costs you real sales. An unconfigured email sequence means you’re losing abandoned cart revenue from day one. At Ecommerce Paradise, every Shopify store we build goes through this checklist before we flip the switch. Use it to make sure nothing gets missed on yours.

Business Foundation Checks

LLC formed and active. EIN obtained. Business bank account open and linked to Shopify Payments. Business email (yourname@yourdomain.com via Google Workspace) set as your store contact email. Business phone number (Grasshopper) active and displaying on your store. Resale certificate (seller’s permit) obtained for your state. The complete business formation checklist covers all of these in detail.

Store Settings Checks

Store name, legal name, and address correct in Settings > Store Details. Shopify Payments configured as primary payment processor (eliminates transaction fee). PayPal enabled as secondary payment option. Guest checkout enabled (reduces friction for high-ticket buyers). Correct currency set for your market. Correct timezone configured. Automatic US tax collection enabled. All nexus states correctly configured in tax settings. Shipping zones configured with free US domestic shipping. Weight and dimension units set correctly for product entries.

Product Page Checks

All products priced at MAP or above. No products priced below MAP. All products have original descriptions (not manufacturer copy-paste). All products have professional images (multiple angles where available). All products have complete specifications: dimensions, weight, materials, power requirements, warranty terms. All products have a unique meta title and meta description written. Inventory set to “Don’t track inventory” for all dropship products. All product variants (size, color, model) correctly configured. All products organized into appropriate Collections. SKU numbers included in product descriptions for SEO.

Navigation and Pages Checks

Main header menu includes: product collections, About page, Contact page. Footer menu includes: Shipping Policy, Returns Policy, Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, Contact. About Us page live and tells your brand story. Contact page live with phone number, email, and hours. FAQ page live with answers to top pre-sale questions. All navigation links tested and working. No broken links anywhere on the site.

Policy and Legal Checks

Shipping Policy live and specific: processing time, shipping carriers, estimated delivery, freight process for large items, tracking delivery. Return Policy live and specific: return window, restocking fees, return process, who pays return shipping. Privacy Policy live and compliant (generated via Termly or equivalent). Terms of Service live. All policies linked in footer navigation. All policies consistent with your actual supplier agreements. Policy pages indexed (not set to noindex).

Trust Signal Checks

Phone number visible in header or prominently on homepage. Phone number on every product page. Business email displayed on Contact page. SSL certificate active (padlock showing in browser). Secure checkout badge visible at checkout. Authorized dealer badge displayed if available from suppliers. Trust badges installed on product pages and checkout. Google Business Profile created and verified. No placeholder content anywhere on the site (“Lorem ipsum,” sample images, etc.).

App and Tool Checks

Omnisend (or your email marketing tool) installed and connected. Abandoned cart email sequence configured and active. Order confirmation email customized with your store branding. Tidio live chat installed and configured. Offline chat message configured (for when you’re unavailable). Product reviews app installed. Google Analytics 4 installed and tracking events. Google Search Console verified and sitemap submitted. Meta Pixel installed and firing correctly. Google Merchant Center account created and product feed connected.

Checkout and Payment Checks

Test order placed and completed successfully using Shopify’s Bogus Gateway. Order confirmation email received after test order. Cart and checkout tested on desktop (Chrome, Safari, Firefox). Cart and checkout tested on mobile (iOS and Android). All shipping options display correctly in checkout. Tax calculation displays correctly for multiple states. Payment methods (Shopify Payments and PayPal) both display at checkout. Post-purchase thank you page configured correctly.

SEO and Technical Checks

Custom domain connected and resolving correctly. No SSL errors (all pages show https://). Homepage meta title and description written and optimized. All collection pages have unique meta titles and descriptions. Robots.txt not blocking important pages. Sitemap.xml accessible at yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml. Google Search Console shows no critical crawl errors. Site speed tested — homepage loads in under 3 seconds. Images compressed for fast loading.

Supplier and Operations Checks

At least one approved supplier relationship in place before launching ads. Wholesale price list and MAP policy received from all active suppliers. Order placement process documented and tested (how you’ll place orders when customers buy). Supplier contact information saved and accessible. Understanding of supplier’s shipping timeline and tracking information delivery. Return authorization process understood for each supplier. This is all connected to the supplier sourcing process that makes a dropshipping store viable from day one.
