For high-ticket dropshipping (products over $200), a healthy net profit margin is typically 20–35% per order. Because your average order value is much higher, you can afford lower unit margins and still generate significant dollar profit per sale. Anything above 25% is excellent; below 10% is a warning sign that your CPA or product cost needs attention.

ROAS stands for Return on Ad Spend. It tells you how many dollars in revenue you generate for every dollar spent on advertising. Your breakeven ROAS is the minimum you need to not lose money. If your breakeven ROAS is 3x, you need to generate $3 in revenue for every $1 of ad spend. Aim for a target ROAS of 4–6x for a profitable and scalable store.

The most commonly overlooked costs are: payment processing fees (2.9%+ per transaction), chargeback costs, return shipping losses, monthly software and app subscriptions (email marketing, review apps, tracking pages), and the opportunity cost of your own time. Always use your full cost picture — not just product + shipping — to avoid margin bleed.

Net Profit = Selling Price − Product Cost − Shipping − Payment Fee − Platform Fee − CPA − Return Loss Allowance. The result tells you exactly how much you keep per sale, before overhead. Your true monthly net profit also subtracts fixed monthly costs like software and tools, divided across all orders.
