VisualVisitor Pricing 2026: How Identification-Based Cost Actually Works

Affiliate disclosure: This post contains affiliate links. If you buy through them, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Full disclosure

Let me be straight with you before you read any further. VisualVisitor does not publish a public price list, and any article that hands you a neat table of plan names and dollar figures is making it up.

What the company does state is the model: pricing is based on the number of successful identifications, there are month to month and annual options, and the trial starts without a credit card. Everything past that comes from a conversation with a product specialist.

So this article is the useful version of a pricing page. How the identification model actually works, what pushes your quote up, what the published competitors charge so you have a benchmark, and the specific questions to ask before you sign anything. After 15 years running and managing stores at E-Commerce Paradise, I have sat through enough of these calls to know where the number moves.

If you want the product walkthrough rather than the money side, my full VisualVisitor review covers what it does and who it suits.

Why There Is No Price List

Visitor identification vendors almost universally quote rather than publish, and the reason is not shiftiness. It is that the product’s cost to deliver scales with how much matching it has to do against your traffic, and traffic profiles vary enormously between customers.

A site with 800 visitors a month where 40 resolve to companies costs the vendor almost nothing to serve. A site with 400,000 visitors costs a great deal more, and no single published tier covers both sensibly.

The practical consequence for you is that your quote is a function of your own numbers, which means you have leverage if you know them and none if you do not. Walking into that call without your traffic figures is how people end up on a plan sized for somebody else’s business.

What Actually Drives Your Number

Successful Identifications, Not Visitors

This is the unit, and it is important that you understand what it excludes. You are not billed for everyone who lands on your site. You are billed when the tool successfully resolves a visitor to a company or a person.

On a typical ecommerce site the match rate is a fraction of total traffic, because consumer visitors on residential connections mostly do not resolve to anything. On a B2B site where buyers browse from corporate networks, the rate is far higher.

That single distinction is why a high-ticket B2B store and a consumer store with identical traffic get very different quotes.

Person Level Versus Company Level

Company level identification tells you that somebody from Acme Manufacturing looked at your quote page. Person level tells you which individual. Person level costs more everywhere in this category, and it is worth deciding upfront whether you actually need it.

For most high-ticket stores, company level is enough. You are going to follow up with a call to the company anyway, and knowing the specific browser is less useful than it sounds.

Contract Length

Month to month and annual are both offered, and the annual discount in this category is usually meaningful. Do not take annual on the first call. Take month to month for a quarter, confirm the match rate on your actual traffic is what they projected, then negotiate annual from a position of knowing the tool works.

Benchmarks to Hold the Quote Against

I compared the full field in my roundup of the best VisualVisitor alternatives. You cannot negotiate without a reference point, so here is what the competitors who do publish are charging. Use these as your sanity check.

Tool Entry price What that includes Free tier
VisualVisitor Quote based Priced per successful identification Trial, no card
RB2B $79/mo 300 resolutions, LinkedIn URLs to Slack Yes, 150/mo company level
Leadfeeder From €79/mo Company identification, CRM sync Yes, 100 companies/mo
Albacross Quote based Company identification, EU focus Trial
Warmly Quote based Identification plus outbound automation Free tier
Lead Forensics Quote based Company identification, heavy sales motion Demo only

RB2B is the most transparent operator in the space. Free gives you 150 monthly resolutions at company level pushed to Slack. Starter is $79 for 300 resolutions with LinkedIn URLs but no email addresses. Pro starts at $149 and adds business emails, Pro+ starts at $199 with premium resolution. Extra domains run $99 a month.

Leadfeeder’s Lite tier is free forever after a 14-day full trial, capped at 100 identified companies a month with 7-day history. Discover starts at €79 monthly on annual billing, Activate at €369, Scale at €599.

So the honest benchmark is this. For low identification volume, the market rate is somewhere between free and roughly $150 a month. If a quote comes back materially above that for similar volume, ask what you are getting for the difference.

Questions to Ask on the Call

Go in with these written down. Vendors answer specific questions honestly and vague ones optimistically.

What counts as a successful identification, exactly? Get the definition in writing, because a company match and a person match may bill differently and you want to know which one you are being quoted on.

What happens when I exceed the volume? Some vendors stop identifying, some overage bill. Stopping is usually better for a small operator, because a surprise invoice after a good traffic month is the worst version of this.

What is the match rate you project on my traffic? They will have a number. Ask what it is based on, and then check it against your own trial data before renewal.

Can I start month to month? If the answer is no, that tells you something about how confident they are that you will still be paying in six months.

What is the cancellation process? Ask specifically whether it is a click or an email to a rep. This category is notorious for the second one.

Who This Is Actually Worth It For

Quote Request and B2B Stores

This is the use case. If you sell industrial equipment, commercial furniture, or anything where a buyer submits a quote request rather than checking out, knowing which company sat on that page for six minutes is directly actionable.

Your salesperson can call the company the same afternoon. That is worth real money on a $15,000 order, and it is the one scenario where I would pay quote-based pricing without much argument.

High-Ticket Consumer Stores

Much weaker. Your buyers are individuals on home connections and the match rate will disappoint you. Spend the money on Lucky Orange instead and watch what those anonymous visitors actually do. I broke the cost of that down in my guide to Lucky Orange pricing.

Agencies Selling Lead Gen

Worth it, and the multi-domain question becomes your main cost driver rather than volume. Ask specifically how additional client sites are priced, because that is where these deals get expensive quietly.

The Compliance Part Nobody Mentions

Identifying visitors is legally different from watching anonymous behavior, and the rules depend on where your buyers are.

Company level identification from IP data is generally treated as business information. Person level identification is personal data, and if you have European visitors that pulls you squarely into GDPR territory with consent obligations attached.

In the US, the FTC’s privacy and security guidance is the baseline for what you should be disclosing in your policy. If you deploy this tool, your privacy policy needs to say so.

Your analytics setup matters here too. If you are already passing identifiers into GA4 user-ID, you are stitching identity across sessions and should be treating that with the same care.

None of this is a reason to avoid the category. It is a reason to update your policy before you install the script rather than after somebody asks.

How It Fits the Rest of the Stack

Visitor identification answers who. It does not answer what they did or whether your campaigns are profitable, and buying it as a substitute for either is a common mistake.

Behavior sits with a session recording tool. Channel performance sits with a reporting layer, and I covered that side in my breakdown of Power My Analytics pricing. The three together give you who, what, and how much.

On the store side, if your quote request flow is the conversion event, make sure it is actually built to capture properly. A perfect identification tool pointed at a broken form still loses the deal, and my walkthrough on finding landing page conversion leaks covers how to check that.

For background on the category itself, my guide to what website visitor identification is explains the mechanics of how these tools resolve an IP to a business in the first place.

What I Would Actually Do

Start free somewhere else. RB2B gives you 150 resolutions a month at zero cost and Leadfeeder gives you 100 companies, and either one tells you within a month whether your traffic resolves well enough for this category to matter to your business.

If the answer is yes and you want person level detail, deeper enrichment, or tighter CRM integration, then take the VisualVisitor trial and get a quote with your real numbers in hand.

If the answer is no, and for a lot of consumer-facing high-ticket stores it will be, you have learned that for free rather than by signing an annual contract. That is the whole point of doing it in this order.

Common Questions

Why Will Nobody Tell Me the Price?

Because it genuinely depends on your identification volume, and because quote-based pricing gives vendors room to price by perceived value. Both things are true at once.

Is the Trial Really Free?

The company states no credit card is required to start. That is unusual enough in this category to be worth taking advantage of.

Will It Identify Individual Consumers?

Mostly no, and you should be suspicious of anyone promising otherwise for residential traffic. These tools are built on business network data.

Does It Slow Down My Site?

It is another third-party script, so yes, marginally. On a store already carrying a heavy app stack that margin matters more than the vendor will admit, and it is worth checking your page weight before and after installation rather than assuming it is free.

Can I Run It Alongside Another Tool?

Yes, and during evaluation you should. Two identification tools on the same traffic for one month tells you more about match rates than any vendor projection will.

How to Estimate Your Own Volume Before Anyone Quotes You

You can do this arithmetic today without installing anything, and it puts you in a completely different position on the call.

Start with your monthly sessions from analytics. Then estimate what share of that traffic is business rather than consumer. If you sell to companies, look at your weekday to weekend split, because a heavy weekday skew is the clearest signal that people are browsing from work.

Apply a realistic match rate to the business portion. Vendors in this space typically resolve somewhere between a fifth and a half of genuine business traffic to a company, depending on the country and how much of your audience sits behind consumer ISPs. Take the low end for your own planning.

So a store with 6,000 monthly sessions, of which maybe 30 percent is business traffic, and a 25 percent match rate on that portion, lands around 450 identifications a month. That is your negotiating number, and it puts you comfortably inside the volume that free and entry tiers elsewhere already cover.

Run that number against the benchmark table above before you take any call. If a quote comes back at several hundred dollars for 450 identifications, you now know that is out of line with what the transparent vendors charge for the same thing.

Watch the Weekday Signal

If your traffic is flat across weekends, you are selling to consumers and this category is mostly not for you regardless of price. That single chart in your analytics is the cheapest qualification test available.

A pronounced Tuesday to Thursday peak with a weekend collapse is the opposite signal, and it usually means identification will work well on your traffic.

Check Your Country Mix

Match rates vary a lot by market. US and UK business traffic resolves well because the underlying company databases are deep there. Traffic from smaller markets resolves considerably worse, and vendors rarely volunteer that during a demo.

If a meaningful share of your traffic comes from outside the major English-speaking markets, ask specifically what coverage looks like for those countries before you agree to anything. A blended match rate that averages excellent US coverage with poor coverage elsewhere can look fine on a slide and disappoint in practice.

Do Not Count Your Own Team

Your office IP will resolve to your own company every single day, and on some tools that burns identifications. Exclude your own network before you measure anything, or your trial numbers will be flattering and wrong.

Same goes for your agency, your developer, and any VA working from a business connection. Filter them all out first.

Turn Anonymous Quote Page Traffic Into Named Accounts

On a $15,000 order, one identified company your sales team calls the same afternoon pays for a year of this. Start with the no-card trial and measure your real match rate.

The Verdict

VisualVisitor’s pricing model is reasonable for what it does, and identification-based billing is fairer than charging by raw pageviews. The lack of a public price list is annoying but it is the category norm rather than a red flag.

The thing to avoid is walking into a sales conversation without your own numbers. Run the free options first, learn your real match rate, and use that as the basis for the discussion. You will get a better price and, more importantly, you will know whether the tool is worth buying at all.

For quote-driven B2B stores this is one of the highest leverage tools you can add. For consumer high-ticket stores it usually is not, and I would rather tell you that now than after you have signed for a year.
