The pricing is more predictable ($639 over 5 years vs $1,095 to $2,340 for Tailor Brands depending on plan), the privacy is stronger across all public record fields, the customer service is more knowledgeable and includes weekend coverage, and there’s no auto-renewal subscription friction. Tailor Brands’ branding tools are genuinely good, but they’re solving a different problem than pure LLC formation.

The exception is the specific first-time-founder use case where you genuinely need a logo, website, and branding suite bundled with formation. Tailor Brands Elite at $249/year is a defensible bundle for that scenario, especially if you’d otherwise pay $1,000+ for a logo designer plus $360-600/year for a separate website subscription. The Lite and Essential plans don’t make economic sense vs Northwest plus DIY branding, but the Elite plan can work for the right founder.

For everyone else, especially ecommerce store owners who already have a Shopify store, an existing logo, or DIY design tools (Canva, etc), Northwest is the clear pick. The 5-year cost gap is real ($456 to $1,701 depending on Tailor Brands plan), the privacy depth is real, and the service quality consistency is real.
