Neither business model is wrong. They’re just different fits for different operators. The Privacy First feature is the killer benefit. When you form an LLC, your name and address get published on public state records. Northwest lets you list their address everywhere your home address would normally appear (organizer, registered agent, principal place of business in most states), so when someone Googles your LLC name, they don’t get your home address. They get Northwest’s office address. Bizee uses their address as your registered agent, but they don’t extend that protection across the other public-record fields the same way, which is the privacy difference most articles miss.

That is unusual for a $0 tier and is the main reason Bizee is the cheapest option in year one. Standard at $199 plus state fees and Premium at $299 plus state fees add more filing and document features, and the exact feature list changes, so check Bizee’s pricing page for what each tier includes today.

For most operators, the Basic plan is the realistic comparison point against Northwest’s $39 + $125/year. Apply for your EIN directly with the IRS for free, skip the add-ons at checkout, and Bizee Basic is the cheapest path to an LLC in year one. What you pay in year two is the number to confirm before you buy, because Bizee does not show it on its pricing pages.

What Bizee Does Well

Two real strengths. First, the Basic plan with the first registered agent year included is the cheapest entry point in the LLC formation category. Northwest is $39 upfront, so only Bizee gets you to a functioning LLC for nothing more than your state filing fee in year one.

Second, the free first year of agent service keeps Bizee’s running total lowest early on. It is a front-loaded edge: you save $164 in year one against Northwest, and what happens after that depends on Bizee’s renewal price, which it does not show. If that renewal lands below $166/year, Bizee stays cheaper through year five.

Head-to-Head: 5-Year Cost Comparison

Here’s what the numbers look like for a Wyoming LLC with a $100 state fee. I’m only using prices the vendors publish, and one price is missing: Bizee’s registered agent renewal after the free first year is not shown on its pricing pages, so I can’t hand you a 5-year total for Bizee without guessing.

Northwest Registered Agent, year one: $39 (formation) + $100 (state fee) + $125 (registered agent) = $264. Northwest does not publish whether the first agent year is included in the $39, so I charge the $125 here. Every later year is $125, which makes the 5-year total $764.

Bizee Basic, year one: $0 (plan) + $100 (state fee) + $0 (first-year registered agent is free) = $100. Every later year is whatever Bizee charges at renewal, so the 5-year total is $100 plus four renewals.

That gives you a clean test instead of a made-up number. Bizee’s head start in year one is $164 ($264 vs $100). Spread over four renewal years, Bizee stays cheaper through year five as long as its renewal is under $166 a year ($125 + $164 / 4). If Bizee’s renewal comes in above that, Northwest is the cheaper five-year option. Check the renewal price at checkout before you pay.

Either way the dollar gap is small. For an ecommerce store owner generating $5,000+ per month in revenue, a difference of a few dollars a month is a rounding error compared to the privacy depth and support quality differences. For a side hustle or a first-LLC operator on a tight budget, the lower year-one cost may be the deciding factor.

According to the Wyoming Secretary of State’s official filing fee schedule, the state filing fees have stayed stable for years, which is part of why nomad founders keep picking Wyoming. The state fee is the same regardless of which formation service you use, so the only variable in the cost comparison is the formation service itself.

Privacy: Where Northwest Pulls Ahead

When you form an LLC, the state publishes certain information on public records. Each one is presented as a default that you have to actively decline. For an experienced operator who knows what to skip, this is annoying but doable. For a first-time founder who isn’t sure which add-ons matter, it’s a real risk to ending up paying $200-300 more than the $0 Basic plan implies. Northwest’s checkout has none of this. Neither of these is a dealbreaker. Bizee is still a legitimate, large-scale formation service that gets the LLC formed. But for an ecommerce store owner who values predictability in service quality and doesn’t want to navigate a sales funnel during checkout, Northwest is the cleaner pick. The extra first-year cost is the price you pay for that cleaner experience.

Which One Should You Pick?

Here’s how I’d think about it based on your situation.

Pick Northwest if:

You value privacy on every public record field, not just your registered agent address. You want US-based phone support that knows your account, including weekend coverage. You prefer a clean checkout experience without aggressive upsells. You’re running your business from home or from abroad and your home address being on public records is a real concern. You’d rather pay more up front for predictable service quality than save the money and deal with checkout friction. This applies to roughly 80% of the ecommerce store owners I work with. Pick Bizee if:

Lowest possible first-year cost is your single most important criterion. You’re comfortable navigating an upsell-heavy checkout flow and confident you’ll skip the add-ons you don’t need. Privacy on your home address isn’t a major concern (maybe you have a separate business address already). You don’t need weekend phone support or dedicated account representatives. You’re forming a side-hustle LLC where every dollar matters. This is a real use case, and Bizee Basic legitimately fits it.

No state income tax, low filing fees ($100), low annual report fees ($60), and strong privacy laws for LLC owners. Delaware and Nevada are also popular but slightly more expensive on filing and annual fees.

If you live in the US and you’re forming an LLC for a business that operates in a single state, you usually form in your home state. Filing in Wyoming when you actually operate in California means you’re a foreign LLC in California and have to register there too, which doubles your filing fees. The exception is digital nomad ecommerce store owners who don’t have a tax home, in which case Wyoming or Delaware become useful for the privacy and tax structure.

Both Northwest and Bizee can file your LLC in any state, so the state choice is independent of the service choice. Pick the right state for your situation first, then pick the service.
