Understanding FBA Fees

How Amazon FBA Fees Are Calculated

Every FBA sale has multiple fee layers. Here's what each one covers and how Amazon calculates it.

💸
Referral Fee
Amazon's commission on every sale — typically 6–15% of the sale price depending on category. Charged on the full sale price including any shipping you set.
📦
FBA Fulfillment Fee
Covers pick, pack, and ship per order. Based on size tier and billable weight (greater of actual vs dimensional weight). Small standard ~$3.06, large standard from ~$3.68.
🏭
Monthly Storage Fee
Charged per cubic foot. Jan–Sep: ~$0.78/cu ft. Oct–Dec (peak season): ~$2.40/cu ft. Long-term storage fees apply after 365 days. Fast inventory turns keep this low.
🚚
Inbound Shipping
What you pay to get inventory to Amazon's warehouse. Amazon's partnered carrier program offers discounted rates. Per-unit cost drops significantly in bulk shipments.
📏
Size Tiers
Amazon tiers products from Small Standard through Special Oversize based on dimensions and weight. Staying under Large Standard thresholds keeps fulfillment fees much lower.
📣
PPC Advertising
Sponsored ad spend per unit sold — not technically an Amazon fee but a real per-unit cost. Track TACoS (total ad cost of sales) to understand true profitability on FBA.
