Buying the tool is step one. Actually running LLM optimization is where most store owners drop the ball. Here’s the workflow I walk my coaching clients through.

Start with crawler access. Open your robots.txt and confirm you’re not blocking GPTBot, PerplexityBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, CCBot (Common Crawl, which feeds many model training datasets), or Anthropic-AI. Most stores I audit have at least one of these inadvertently blocked because of an old SEO plugin default. Add an llms.txt file to your root directory while you’re at it. It’s the emerging convention for telling LLMs which content you want them to use as a source. Most tool dashboards now check for it.

Next, identify your top 30 to 50 buyer-intent pages and rewrite them in LLM-friendly format. The right way to think about LLM optimization is as a thin technical layer on top of great content. Get the content right first. Then layer on chunked structure, schema, llms.txt, and crawler access. Tools help with the technical layer, but they don’t write the content for you.

LLM optimization is one piece of a complete ecommerce growth stack.
