Wayfair’s Way Day sale runs Oct. 24 to 26 with free shipping sitewide and up to 80% off, the company said Oct. 15.

If you sell furniture, mattresses, rugs, or any big-ticket home product, your buyer is about to see free shipping and free white glove delivery on many items at a retailer with 21.7 million active customers, per Wayfair’s Q2 filing. That hits your Google Shopping auction, your conversion rate, and your price positioning at the same time. Here is what a high-ticket store owner at Ecommerce Paradise should change before Saturday.

I cover what Wayfair announced, how this year’s event compares with last year’s, what I expect it to do to ad costs and margins, and six changes to make before midnight Saturday. If you are new to the model, start with my guide on what high-ticket dropshipping is.

Wayfair Way Day Oct. 24-26: Free Shipping and Up to 80% Off

Wayfair announced Way Day on Oct. 15 in a PR Newswire release. The event runs Saturday, Oct. 24 through Monday, Oct. 26, per the release. Daily deals started Monday, Oct. 19, and Wayfair Rewards members and app users got early access from that date.

Wayfair promotes discounts of up to 80% across furniture, decor, and home improvement, with new deals every 24 hours. Shipping is free sitewide for all three days. Many items also qualify for free white glove delivery, which Wayfair describes as fully assembled and delivered to the room of the customer’s choice. Alaska, Hawaii, and U.S. territories may pay extra, and flooring or certain large fixtures may not qualify, according to the release.

Doorbusters go live at 12 a.m. ET on Oct. 24, in limited quantities. The five named in the release are a Wayfair Sleep mattress at $189.99, a Henckels knife set at $99.99, a Bissell Turbo Rewind vacuum at $129.99, a Philips 2000 Series air fryer at $79.99, and a Serta sleeper sofa at $699.99. The sofa is the only furniture item on the list, and it is under $700.

Wayfair says thousands of items in its Wayfair Verified program were hand-vetted for quality by its product specialists, and Chain Store Age reports the event features 24-hour flash deals plus discounts on thousands of items in that program. Wayfair Professional members get Pro-only deals on thousands of products. In-store offers start Oct. 24 at Wayfair stores plus AllModern, Birch Lane, and Joss & Main locations. Wayfair president Jon Blotner said in the release: “Way Day is all about giving our customers access to our deepest discounts of the year without compromising on quality.”

The headline discount is a ceiling. NBC Select’s Oct. 20 roundup lists category maximums of up to 62% off on bed frames, office chairs, and desks, 52% on cabinet and pantry organization, 49% on home decor, and 46% on mattresses. The deepest example NBC found was a Willa Arlo Interiors platform bed at $174.99 versus $1,080.99, an 84% discount on a flash deal that lasted only several hours.

Chain Store Age reported on Oct. 16 that the event follows Amazon’s fifth Prime Big Deal Days and competing events from Walmart and Target. Wayfair also ran a “Black Friday in July” promotion after June’s Amazon Prime Day, per the same report. Wayfair’s release did not disclose financing offers, and neither Wayfair nor the two outlets compared this year’s event with last year’s. I did that comparison below.

Last Year’s Way Day Ran Four Days. This One Runs Three

Wayfair’s Oct. 16, 2025 release put last year’s Way Day at Sunday, Oct. 26 through Wednesday, Oct. 29. Deals of the day began Oct. 20 and in-store offers began Oct. 25. The headline then was the same: up to 80% off, free shipping sitewide for the whole event, and free white glove delivery on many items.

So this year’s event is one day shorter with the same headline discount and the same shipping terms. Early deals started Oct. 19 instead of Oct. 20. Nothing in the 2026 release says Wayfair is discounting deeper.

The business behind the sale is growing. Wayfair’s Q2 2026 results, released Aug. 4, showed net revenue of $3.52 billion, up 7.5% from $3.27 billion a year earlier. Active customers hit 21.7 million, up 3.3%. Orders delivered rose 6.0% to 10.6 million, and average order value was $332 versus $328.

Repeat customers made up 80.2% of orders delivered, down from 80.7% in Q2 2025. Adjusted EBITDA was $242 million, a 6.9% margin, versus $205 million. CEO Niraj Shah said, “Q2 marked another strong quarter of share capture and top line momentum.” Wayfair reports Q3 results before the market opens on Nov. 4, with a call at 8:00 a.m. ET.

On Oct. 6 Wayfair also added Klarna 0% APR financing for up to six months, which I covered in Wayfair Expands Klarna.

There is a counterpoint to the scary headline number. Adobe’s Sept. 28 holiday forecast expects peak furniture discounts of 18% this season, versus 19% in 2025. Shoppers are not being promised deeper cuts than last year on average.

Event shoppers also skew cheap. In my write-up of Prime Big Deal Days results, Numerator’s panel showed 68% of items sold for under $20 and only 2% for over $100. Numerator counts items, not dollars, and no source I found breaks out orders above $1,000.

What Way Day Does to Your High-Ticket Margins and Ad Costs

This section is my read, not reporting. Way Day will not take your customer. It resets what free delivery and a good price look like for three days, and your ads and checkout get judged against that.

My read is that the pressure lands in three places. The first is Google Shopping. For three days Wayfair’s listings carry free shipping and sale prices in the same results where your listing sits. I have no published cost-per-click figure for this weekend, and anyone quoting one is guessing. Your own account is the data. Last year’s event ran Oct. 26 to 29, so pull those four days and compare them with the week before. My guide on turning Google Shopping clicks into sales covers the conversion side.

The second is delivery. Free white glove delivery is the part that should worry you if you sell bulky items, because freight is not free for you. AFS said LTL rates topped 80% above 2018 levels, which I covered in my LTL rates post. If your store charges freight or a white glove fee on an $1,800 sofa, that line item is what a shopper compares against the word “free.”

The third is demand. The University of Michigan’s preliminary October sentiment reading was 46.3, down from 48.1 in September, and survey director Joanne Hsu said durable goods buying conditions “plummeted amid high prices and borrowing costs,” as I laid out in my sentiment post. The final October reading lands Oct. 23, the day before Way Day starts. Price-sensitive buyers either shop Way Day and never reach your store, or use it as the reason to buy something they were already researching. Published data does not tell me which dominates in your category.

My read on timing is that events like this pull holiday purchases forward. I covered the shift toward October buying in Deloitte: Holiday Shopping Is Moving Into October. A buyer who locks in a sofa at Wayfair on Saturday is out of the market for your Black Friday campaign. In categories where Wayfair overlaps with you, plan for a softer first half of November and treat any Q4 forecast that assumes flat demand with suspicion.

Borrowing costs matter too. The Fed raised rates 25 basis points on Sept. 16 to a 3.75% to 4% range and meets again Oct. 27 to 28, according to the figures in my sentiment post. If you float inventory or ad spend on a credit line, a bad promo weekend costs more to carry than it did a year ago. Price your options through Nav before Q4 spend peaks.

The Hypothetical Math

This is hypothetical math, not a reported figure. Take an $1,800 sofa at a 25% gross margin, which is $450 per order. Ad spend at 15% of revenue is $270. That leaves $180 before overhead.

If cost per click rises 20% for the three days, ad cost per order becomes $324 and the $180 shrinks to $126. If conversion rate also falls 15%, ad cost per order climbs to about $381 and you keep $69. Same product, same price, roughly 62% less profit per order.

Break-even ROAS is 1 divided by your gross margin. At 25% that is 4.0. At 20% it is 5.0. If your account reads below break-even for the day, cut the bid. Do not chase volume on a weekend where your competitor is giving away shipping.

Three Scenarios, Three Responses

You sell brands Wayfair does not carry. Overlap is low. Hold your budget and watch conversion rate. A drop of more than 10% against the prior week’s rate is my trigger to pull back.

You sell brands Wayfair also sells. This is where it gets expensive. Ask your supplier rep in writing whether MAP policy covers Way Day pricing, because some brands run approved sale windows and others do not. I have no confirmation either way for this event.

You sell categories where Wayfair pushes its in-house brands. NBC’s roundup names Latitude Run, Wade Logan, and Sand & Stable among the brands on sale. Your customer compares category and price, not brand. Lead with what a private label cannot offer: a named manufacturer, a real warranty, and a phone number that gets answered.

Not everything about this weekend is bad for you. Wayfair’s doorbusters are limited quantity, and a shopper who misses one is a shopper looking for the next-best option. That shopper wants a person to talk to. High-ticket stores that pick up the phone win those sales, which is why I keep pushing high-ticket sales follow-up.

Do not respond by cutting prices to chase an 80% headline. I explained why in how to scale a high-ticket store without cutting prices. If this weekend shows you your store cannot absorb a promo window without breaking, the fix is structural. My team builds and runs high-ticket stores through the turnkey done-for-you service, with pricing, feeds, and ad structure set before the next event.

Wayfair Way Day Prep: 6 Store Changes Before Saturday

Here are six changes, in order of how much money they protect:

  1. Pull last year’s numbers. In Google Ads, compare Oct. 26 to 29, 2025 against the prior week for cost per click, conversion rate, and ROAS. Competitor ad overlap shows up in Semrush if you want to see who is bidding on your terms.
  2. Set a daily ROAS floor at break-even. Use the controls I covered in Google Ads Adds Channel Priority and Budget Caps. Track daily contribution margin in Finaloop so you read profit, not revenue.
  3. State your delivery promise in plain words. Put the delivery window and any white glove option on the product page and at checkout in Shopify. If you run a free shipping threshold, confirm it still makes sense this weekend.
  4. Warm your list before Saturday. Send a short email through Klaviyo to browsers and abandoned carts offering a call or a quote, not a coupon. Match the timing to my high-ticket Black Friday stress test.
  5. Staff the phone and chat. Route tickets through Gorgias with a saved reply for “Wayfair has this cheaper” and put your direct number on every product page. If you want me to look at your numbers, book a discovery call.
  6. Screen high-value orders for fraud. Holiday volume brings disputes, so run large orders through ClearSale. Then read my chargeback prevention guide before Black Friday.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is Way Day 2026?
Saturday, Oct. 24 through Monday, Oct. 26, with early deals running since Oct. 19, per Wayfair’s Oct. 15 release. Last year’s event ran Oct. 26 to 29.

Do I need to discount to compete?
No. Matching an 80% headline is how you lose money, and most category maximums in NBC’s roundup sit between 42% and 62%. Compete on service, warranty, and a real person on the phone.

Does Wayfair’s financing change the picture?
It raises the bar for what shoppers expect at checkout. Wayfair added Klarna 0% APR for up to six months on Oct. 6, per my earlier coverage. If you offer financing, check the fees using my BNPL cost post.

How big is the furniture market this holiday season?
Adobe forecasts $33.4 billion in U.S. online furniture sales for Nov. 1 to Dec. 31, up 7.3%. I broke down the rest of that forecast in Adobe Forecasts $275B Holiday Online Sales.

What else is on the calendar?
Lowe’s starts Black Friday deals Oct. 29, per my Lowe’s post. TikTok Shop’s BFCM starts Nov. 11, per my TikTok Shop post. Wayfair reports Q3 earnings on Nov. 4.
